Purpose

To establish the workload expectations of full-time faculty.


Policy

All full-time personnel including faculty shall be required to devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution and shall maintain appropriate office hours as determined by the president or designee. Calculation of the 37.5-hour work week shall follow such guidelines as promulgated by the chancellor.

Within the requirement of a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, faculty shall be required to carry a full teaching load, which shall be 15 credit hours, 30 credit hours per academic year or the equivalent per term for undergraduate courses. The president may use flexibility as appropriate to determine the structure of the work week for faculty that recognize variations from traditional instructional formats such as afforded by online instruction, or other unique methods of instructional delivery. All equivalent teaching load activities shall be subject to prior review and approval by the president or designee.
