Purpose

The Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement Council supports the college’s comprehensive strategic planning, management and institutional effectiveness processes. Faculty, staff, and student participants representing a cross section of the college community comprise the council.

The primary duties of the council include:

·         review/affirm Walters State’s mission statement, vision statement and

          Campus Compact

·         make recommendations for strategic planning

·         provide input and feedback from the campus perspective concerning

           strategic planning initiatives

·         promote continuous improvement for institutional effectiveness.

The council operates in consultation with the Executive Council. These two entities oversee the planning activities predicated on the priorities of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), which are established to promote quality and accountability for TBR institutions.  

The President chairs the council; staff and functional support is provided by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Compliance.  All major academic and administrative units are represented on the council.

The Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement Council shall meet as required.
