04:03:13 Credit for SAT Reasoning Test

Revision Responsibility: Vice President for Student Services
Responsible Executive Officer: Vice President for Academic Affairs

Purpose

To provide guidance on awarding of academic credit based on SAT Reasoning Test scores.

Policy

The SAT is a standardized exam typically given to high school students and used in college admissions. It covers areas of critical reading, mathematics, and writing. WSCC awards Composition I (ENGL 1010) credit to students who achieve a 610 English score and Composition I and II (ENGL 1010 and 1020) to students who achieve a 710 or higher score in English on the SAT Exam. When credit is awarded for high test scores on the SAT, scores will be converted to a grade of “P” on the transcript and will not affect the student’s quality point average. Students who wish to obtain the aforementioned credit must contact Student Enrollment Services for transcription of credit. 05/16
