Purpose

To provide guidance relative to the use of college’s telephone system.


Policy

I. Introduction

Incoming calls to the college’s main telephone number will be provided a menu of specific departmental phone numbers from which a caller may select the desired office telephone number.

The telephone system offers direct inward dialing to individual offices; therefore, individuals working on campus can receive calls at any time. The telephone system is limited to business related calls; personal long-distance calls may not be charged to the institution. If an employee needs to make a long-distance call that may appear to be personal in nature but is directly associated to a college matter (e.g., advising family members that he/she has to unexpectedly work late, etc.), the employee may be required to log the call and submit it with justification upon request for review.

II. Emergency Phones

The campus is equipped with strategically located phones for access during an emergency and to alert Campus Police of an emergency. Such phones are located throughout various parking lots across the campus as well as at selected entrances/exits of buildings. Each classroom is also equipped with a phone providing access to Campus Police. 09/06; 05/16
