Purpose
Addresses faculty absences from class.
Policy
Faculty members (full time and adjunct) are expected to meet all classes promptly as scheduled. Faculty members who must be absent should file a request in advance to the academic dean for approval of the absence. It is the responsibility of the academic dean to approve arrangements to cover the absences of faculty. A Disposition of Classes form must be filed with the academic dean. The form is available on the Academic Affairs website. Absences due to illness, death or other emergency situations should be handled as expeditiously as possible. The vice president for Academic Affairs is to be notified whenever faculty members are not in compliance with their teaching and office schedules. Leave requests are to be filled out for all faculty members not meeting their assigned classes. A faculty or staff member with an unauthorized absence may have a salary adjustment because of the absence.
