Purpose
To help promote a healthier environment for all persons on Walters State Community College’s campuses.
Policy
Walters State Community College Policy 08:20:00 was created to help promote a healthier environment for all persons on Walters State Community College’s campuses. Smoking in any form will only be permitted in personal vehicles. This policy covers all forms of smoking products, including cigarettes, pipes, and cigars. Smokeless electronic cigarettes “vapors” and all other similar devices are also banned under this policy. The use of mouth tobacco (to include dipping, chewing, etc.) is also considered banned under this policy.

At the beginning of any activity conducted in the gymnasium, technology auditorium, humanities theatre, and in room 269 of the College Center, an announcement noting exits shall be made. Also, a statement informing the audience that “there shall be no smoking in this room” shall be made. The college employee responsible for either scheduling and/or supervising the activity shall be the individual responsible for ensuring that these announcements are made.
Enforcement of Policy
This policy will be enforced through normal administrative channels.
