Purpose
The Campus Peer Evaluation Committee shall have the responsibility for the coordination and administration of peer evaluation as a component of the promotion and tenure processes. The members of this committee conduct classroom evaluations of all faculty candidates eligible for promotion and tenure, and the committee chairperson coordinates division peer classroom evaluations of these candidates.
The Campus Peer Evaluation Committee will conduct the campus peer evaluation for the faculty members eligible for promotion and tenure each spring. No evaluator may evaluate a candidate from his/her own division.
Campus Peer Evaluation Committee shall meet one time each semester and as needed thereafter.
Membership
Each division will elect two tenured faculty members to the Campus Peer Evaluation Team. If a division has only one tenured faculty member, that division will elect a faculty member with a long record of service in that division. In addition, two tenured faculty members will be elected by the faculty at large. Each member will be elected to serve a two-year term. After two years, if a division has no tenured faculty other than the faculty member currently serving, the division will consider a faculty member with a long record of service in that division.
The chair of the committee will be appointed by the Faculty Senate to serve a three-year term and minimally be a tenured Assistant or Associate professor with at least three academic years’ experience at Walters State. The chair of the Campus Peer Evaluation Team will act as a liaison between faculty members and peer evaluators.
The chair of the committee will be entitled to a stipend of $750 to be adjusted as conditions warrant.
