11:23:00 General Education Committee


Revision Responsibility: Executive Council
Responsible Executive Officer: Vice President for Academic Affairs                                                   

Purpose

The General Education Committee shall have the responsibility for approval and recommendation to the Academic Affairs Committee for all matters pertaining to general education programs at the college including general education competencies, courses and associated student learning outcomes.

General Education Committee shall meet as needed.


Membership

Campus Core Team (4-year terms):

  1. General Education Officer, Chair (Faculty member)
  2. SACSCOC core content - Math/Natural Science Faculty member
  3. SACSCOC core content - Humanities/Fine Arts Faculty member
  4. SACSCOC core content - Behavioral/Social Science Faculty member
  5. Representative from Student Services/Student Records
  6. Representative from Student Services/Library 
  7. Academic Affairs Administrator - Dean or Assistant Dean
  8. Representative from Institutional Effectiveness & Compliance (SACSCOC liaison recommended)
  9. AAS Program Administrator - Dean/Asst. Dean/Dept. Head
  10. Chair of Curriculum Subcommittee (Faculty member)
  11. One Representative from Faculty At Large

Divisional Faculty (elected for 2-year terms):

      One faculty member from each academic division elected by the division faculty
      One Student Representative designated by Vice President for Student Services - (1-year term)
