AGRM 2140/2141 - Farm Animal Health and Management Practices

This course introduces the student to basic health management, disease prevention programs, and biotechnology for farm animals with a study of the characteristics and symptoms, prevention and treatment of major diseases and internal and external parasites. Students learn livestock management practices and skills including dehorning, castrating, implanting, identification, foot care, vaccinating, and preparation for show and sale. Students also receive exposure to companion and exotic animals. Students receive group and individual instruction in these skills. The course also includes a study of buildings and equipment needed for raising and handling livestock. S. (T)
