The Surgical Technology program is designed to prepare students for careers as competent, entry-level members of the surgical team in the operating room under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. Following successful completion of the program, students are qualified to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam provided by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). The Surgical Technology program provides quality surgical technology education to the geographically large and rural service area of East Tennessee.
